SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles K. "Keith" Sheckler of Morton,
4who passed away on October 4, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler was born to Charles and Muriel
6(Teach) Sheckler in Ellisville on July 31, 1930; he graduated
7from Ellisville High School, Western Illinois University, and
8the University of Illinois; he married Lela A. (Fidler)
9McCloskey on November 20, 1959; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard,
11graduating from Officer's Training and spending most of his
12active duty on the U.S.S. Cutter Bib along the coast of Korea;
13he transitioned from active duty to the U.S. Coast Guard
14Reserve before retiring as a lieutenant commander after over
1520 years of service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler worked as a farm manager at Norris
17Farms until he was transferred to the company's home office in
18Ocala, Florida in 1972; he then moved to Marion, Illinois,
19where he worked in mine land reclamation for the federal
20government; he then worked as a farm manager in the Farm
21Management Department of First National Bank in Springfield;
22along with several other farm managers and their secretary, he

1purchased the Farm Management Department from the bank and
2created Agri-Vest Farm Management Services, from which he
3retired at the age of 83; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler attended Hope Presbyterian Church
5in Springfield, where he enjoyed attending the men's weekly
6Bible study group; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler enjoyed traveling with his special
8friend, Linda Dodd, and spending time with his family; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler was preceded in death by his wife;
10his parents; and his brothers, Howard Sheckler and Donald
11Sheckler; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Keith Sheckler is survived by his children, Mike
13(Liz) McCloskey and Diana (Ron) Jansen; three grandchildren;
14five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; his
15sister, Deloris Postin; two nephews; and two nieces;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Charles K. "Keith" Sheckler and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further
