SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mason Christopher Santiago of New
4Lenox, who passed away on September 15, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mason Santiago was born to Ski and Shannon
6(Riemer) Santiago in Joliet on October 18, 2004; he graduated
7from Providence Catholic High School in 2023, where he was an
8outstanding and recognized football player; he then attended
9Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where he played as a
10linebacker on the football team and majored in sports
11communication; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mason Santiago took time to return to Providence
13Catholic High School after graduating, mentoring players on
14the football team whenever he had the opportunity to do so; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mason Santiago was an extremely focused and
16intense individual; he was a fierce competitor and wanted to
17be the best at his position; whatever he set his mind to doing,
18he attacked it with 110% effort, never taking shortcuts and
19always performing in high gear; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mason Santiago was the brother of Cohle Santiago
21and Sophia Marie Santiago; the grandson of Michael Riemer and

1Sylvia and John Greenan and Richard and Susan Santiago; the
2great-grandson of Betty J. and the late Donald C. Riemer; and
3the nephew, cousin, and friend of many; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Mason Christopher Santiago and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Mason Santiago as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
