SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Opal Williams; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Opal Williams was a proud and dedicated member of
5the Health Systems Division of the Service Employees
6International Union Healthcare Illinois and Indiana (SEIU
7HCII); she was also a proud member of SEIU's African American
8Caucus (AFRAM); and
 
9    WHEREAS, Opal Williams worked in the Home Care Division of
10the Collective Bargaining and Representation (CBR) Department,
11where she was directly responsible for representing thousands
12of home care workers employed by Addus Home Care; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Opal Williams was a dedicated and compassionate
14team player to her colleagues in the CBR and HCII's Member
15Resource Center; she was also known for her stewardship,
16establishing a strong reputation for diligently and
17responsibly helping her coworkers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Opal Williams was a longtime member and steward
19of Roseland Hospital on Chicago's South Side; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Opal Williams was a loving and strong individual

1who had a great sense of humor; she will be remembered as a
2principled, righteous, and well-regarded woman of high moral
3character; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Opal Williams and extend our sincere condolences to her
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Opal Williams as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
