SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Clyde E. Eskridge, who passed away on
4September 25, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clyde Eskridge was born to Lawrence and Mary
6(Grigsby) Eskridge in Lewistown on January 7, 1926; he
7graduated from Lewistown High School in 1943; he was inducted
8into the U.S. Navy in early 194; he served in Oakland,
9California and the South Pacific, where he had duties on the
10U.S.S. LST-922, including transporting soldiers, equipment,
11and supplies to and from many ports during World War II; he was
12discharged in late June 1946; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Clyde Eskridge worked at Spoon River Electric
14until early 1950; he then assisted in the incorporation and
15expansion of modern telephone services to various rural areas,
16working as manager of Mid-Century Telephone for 52 years until
17he retired in 2002; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Clyde Eskridge was involved in Lewistown Masonic
19Lodge #104, A.F. and A.M., and the Peoria Consistory, and he
20was a member of the Lewistown VFW, the Canton American Legion,
21and First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown; and

1    WHEREAS, Clyde Eskridge enjoyed listening to big band
2music, collecting various items, including Hot Wheels cars,
3and going on his daily walks; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Clyde Eskridge was preceded in death by his
5parents; his son, C.D. "Buck" Eskridge; and his brother, Bill
6Eskridge; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Clyde Eskridge is survived by his children,
8Richard (Stephanie) Eskridge, Joyce (Ed) Sale, Michael (Mary
9Jo) Eskridge, Cheryl (Ted) Bayard, Brian (Marnie) Eskridge,
10and Brad (Jessica) Eskridge; 15 grandchildren; several
11great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Eskridge;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Clyde E. Eskridge and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Clyde Eskridge as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
