SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Martin "Marty" Gray of Milan, who
4passed away on October 13, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marty Gray, the son of Henry "Hank" and Elois
6"Lois" Cleveland Gray, was born in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts
7on February 4, 1959; he graduated from Aledo High School; he
8married Lisa Widdop at Beulah Church on September 8, 1979; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marty Gray was the owner of Gray Machine and
10Welding in Rock Island; he also served on the Reynolds Fire
11Department for 33 years, where he held the position of fire
12chief for the last 10 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marty Gray served as an elder at Hamlet Church
14and as a volunteer and president with the Rockridge Boosters
15Club; he also coached youth baseball and basketball for
16several years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marty Gray loved hunting, fishing, and spending
18time with his family, especially his grandsons; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marty Gray was preceded in death by his mother
20and his father-in-law, James Widdop; and

1    WHEREAS, Marty Gray is survived by his wife; his father;
2his children, Jeremy (Jackie Norman) Gray and Krista (Billy)
3Mohl; six grandchildren; his sister, Patti (Bob) Long; his
4mother-in-law, Linda Widdop; his adopted uncle and aunt, Ron
5and Jean Brown; his adopted brother, Brian Brown; and his
6childhood friend, Doug McCleary; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Martin "Marty" Gray and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Marty Gray as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
