2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Douglas "Doug" Olson of Quincy, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on September 11, 2024; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Doug Olson, the son of Glen and Frances Louise | ||||||
6 | Noble Olson, was born on January 7, 1956; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Highland High School in Ewing, Missouri; he received his | ||||||
8 | bachelor's degree from Northeast Missouri State University and | ||||||
9 | his Master of Business Administration from Quincy University; | ||||||
10 | he married Deborah "Debbie" Marquardt in Quincy on June 27, | ||||||
11 | 1981; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Doug Olson was employed as a sales coordinator | ||||||
13 | for many years and later as manager of operations at the | ||||||
14 | Moorman Manufacturing Company; he served as human resources | ||||||
15 | director at Huck Store Fixture Company, a financial advisor at | ||||||
16 | Waddell & Reed, and later as director of human resources for | ||||||
17 | the City of Quincy; he retired as director of human resources | ||||||
18 | at Hollister-Whitney Elevator Corporation; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Doug Olson loved being on the water, boating with | ||||||
20 | his family and friends on the Mississippi River, at the Lake of | ||||||
21 | the Ozarks, and in Florida, where he enjoyed watching sunsets | ||||||
22 | on Manasota Key Beach; he could often be found sitting on his |

1 | deck, enjoying good conversation with friends and family; he | ||||||
2 | also enjoyed working with his hands and completed various home | ||||||
3 | improvement projects over the years; he was an avid fan of the | ||||||
4 | Missouri Tigers and Mizzou Athletics since he was a child; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Doug Olson was a devoted family man, and his | ||||||
6 | three grandchildren brought him great joy; he loved attending | ||||||
7 | his children's swim meets and his grandchildren's various | ||||||
8 | activities; he and his wife, Debbie, often served as second | ||||||
9 | parents to their children's friends; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Doug Olson was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
11 | his in-laws, Anthony and Nancy Marquardt; and his | ||||||
12 | brothers-in-law, Stan Platz and Jeffrey Marquardt; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Doug Olson is survived by his wife, Debbie; his | ||||||
14 | children, Brooke (Mike) Spring and Brett Olson; three | ||||||
15 | grandchildren; his sisters, Karen Platz and Tammy (Tom) | ||||||
16 | Schroeder; his sister-in-law, Susan Bennett; and numerous | ||||||
17 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Douglas "Doug" Olson and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
