2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Frederick Wayne Allen of Cambridge, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on July 22, 2024; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Wayne Allen, the son of Frederick A. and Minnie | ||||||
6 | H. (Weber) Allen, was born on February 24, 1936; he was | ||||||
7 | educated in Princeton and Kewanee, graduating from Kewanee | ||||||
8 | High School in 1955; he was drafted into the U.S. military in | ||||||
9 | 1958, and he was called back home to assist his father with the | ||||||
10 | dairy business nine months later; he married Sharon E. Van | ||||||
11 | Hyfte Allen in Kewanee on June 25, 1960; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Wayne Allen worked at a variety of places, | ||||||
13 | including Allen's Dairy in Kewanee, Allen's Restaurant in | ||||||
14 | Kewanee, Micheel-Osborne Dairy in Davenport, Iowa, Iowana | ||||||
15 | Dairy in Davenport, Iowa, Dorhn Transfer in Rock Island, | ||||||
16 | Schnowske & Sons Rendering Services in Cambridge, and the | ||||||
17 | United Parcel Service (UPS) in Milan, retiring in July 1995; | ||||||
18 | he also raised cattle with his brothers-in-law from 1978 to | ||||||
19 | 1982 and then on his own five-acre farm in Cambridge from 1982 | ||||||
20 | until 2013; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, After retirement, Wayne Allen worked for Glenn | ||||||
22 | Maertens, Steve Gustafson, Mike Blade, and Michlig Grain; he |

1 | also always lent a helping hand to Mert Klawonn; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Wayne Allen was an avid NASCAR fan, and he | ||||||
3 | enjoyed using his skills as a mechanic to assist stock car | ||||||
4 | driver Jim Townsend at the Peoria Speedway and East Moline | ||||||
5 | Speedway from 1966 to 1971; he loved spending time with his | ||||||
6 | friends and his family; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Wayne Allen was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
8 | his grandparents; his infant son, Michael Wayne; his in-laws, | ||||||
9 | Anthony and Margaret Van Hyfte; and his brother-in-law, Steve | ||||||
10 | Neely; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Wayne Allen is survived by his wife of 64 years, | ||||||
12 | Sharon; his daughter, Suzette (Dirk) Wilkinson; his son, Drew | ||||||
13 | (Danell) Allen; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; | ||||||
14 | his siblings, Karen Neely, Glenn (Lisa) Allen, and Kristeen | ||||||
15 | (Mark) Gould; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it | ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Frederick Wayne Allen and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
20 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
