SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John H. O'Neill III of Chatham, who
4passed away on July 6, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John O'Neill, the son of John H. and Bernice J.
6(Toedter) O'Neill, was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 2,
71945; he graduated from Arlington Heights High School,
8attended Springfield College, and earned his bachelor's degree
9from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and his
10master's degree from University of Illinois Springfield; he
11served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; he
12married Carol J. Rudin in Springfield on December 5, 1970; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John O'Neill was a legislative liaison for both
14the Illinois Secretary of State and the Department of Veterans
15Affairs; he also served on the Sangamon County Board for 22
16years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, John O'Neill was a member of St. Joseph the
18Worker Catholic Church; he enjoyed watching his favorite
19sports teams, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, Notre Dame,
20and the Fighting Illini basketball team; he also enjoyed
21attending many of his children's and grandchildren's sporting
22events; he loved golfing with his friends; and

1    WHEREAS, John O'Neill was preceded in death by his
2parents; his sister, Connie; and his brother-in-law, James
3Richardson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John O'Neill is survived by his wife, Carol
5O'Neill; his sons, John H. (Christi) O'Neill IV, Chris
6O'Neill, and Billy (Emily) O'Neill; his grandchildren, Brian,
7Mia, Ella, Olivia, Samantha, and Allison; his siblings, Kay
8Richardson and Mike O'Neill; four nieces; and five nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12John H. O'Neill III and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John O'Neill as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
