2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Willie L. "Red" Coggins of Moline, who |
4 | | passed away on June 20, 2024; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Red Coggins, the son of John and Pauline Sharpe |
6 | | Coggins, was born in Wynne, Arkansas on October 23, 1931; he |
7 | | served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he married |
8 | | Barbara Bevins in Rock Island on May 10, 1958, and she preceded |
9 | | him in death on October 25, 2017; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Red Coggins worked as a heating and air service |
11 | | technician for the Brooke Company in Davenport, Iowa; after 23 |
12 | | years of service, he retired in 1986; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Red Coggins enjoyed all kinds of crafts, |
14 | | rehabbing houses, camping, traveling, and, at one point, |
15 | | raising and selling hostas; he loved spending time with his |
16 | | children and grandchildren; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Red Coggins was preceded in death by his parents |
18 | | and his siblings, Charline Cook, Roy Coggins, Doris Hughes, |
19 | | Alvin Coggins, Agnes Kernoble, Kathleen Dorris, Arnold |
20 | | Coggins, Donald Coggins, Marvin Coggins, and Eunice Stanlake; |
