2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Leonard A. Freeman of Havana on June |
4 | | 6, 2024; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was born to William and Arnell |
6 | | (Newsome) Freeman in Batesville, Arkansas on December 17, |
7 | | 1947; he joined the U.S. Army in 1967, serving for nine years; |
8 | | and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman worked for Fornoff Fertilizer for |
10 | | 10 years, and he also worked for Walker Forge; he retired from |
11 | | Hinkles & McCoy in Decatur; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was a member of VFW Post #6408 in |
13 | | Havana and Local 51 IBEW in Springfield; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman enjoyed hunting and fishing; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was an amazing father and |
16 | | grandfather; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was preceded in death by his |
18 | | parents and his sister, Sue Richardson; and |

2 | | girlfriend, Nadine Owens; his daughter, Dawn (Jeremy) |
3 | | Showalter; his stepson, Mike (Lisa) Belanger; his |
4 | | grandchildren, Kelsey Mibbs, Levi Mibbs, Jaclyn Mibbs, Jalee |
5 | | Anderson, Hannah Belanger, Kourtney Showalter, and Kylee |
6 | | Showalter; his great-grandchildren, Payton Smith and Karter |
7 | | Showalter; his siblings, Patricia (Aaron) Wilcoxen, Donna |
8 | | (Lee) DeBolt, and Jim (Vivian) Freeman; and several nieces and |
9 | | nephews; therefore, be it |
10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
12 | | Leonard A. Freeman and extend our sincere condolences to his |
13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
14 | | further |
15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to the family of Leonard Freeman as an expression of |
17 | | our deepest sympathy. |
