SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard K. Graham of Viola, who passed
4away on May 20, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Graham was born to Louie and Birdie
6(White) Graham in Moline on August 15, 1931; he served in the
7U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; he married Ardythe
8Rosene in Kahoka, Missouri on October 23, 1956; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Graham worked on his family farm, drove
10and repaired trucks for the public school district and Coke
11Carlson in Rio, and worked as a machinist at Montgomery
12Elevator; he later served as a corrections officer for the
13Mercer County Sheriff's Department; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Graham and his wife enjoyed repairing and
15restoring antique furniture and taking yearly fishing trips to
16Minnesota; he considered his biggest accomplishment to be
17building his home with family and neighbors; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Graham loved his family, treasuring time
19spent with each family member; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Richard Graham was preceded in death by his

1parents; his brother, Louie Graham; and his sister, Marian
2Nesbitt; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Graham is survived by his wife of 67
4years, Ardythe Graham; his children, Debra (John) VerStraete,
5Becky (Carl) Anderson, and Mike (Gail) Graham; his
6grandchildren, Jessica VerStraete Hutton, Caroline (Eddie)
7Shurtz, Nicole (Zach) Little, Angela (Jared) Carbo, Steven
8(fiance, Lily Kopriva) Graham, and Aaron Graham; his
9great-grandchildren, Austin, Cooper, Ember, Lyla, and Payton;
10and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Richard K. Graham and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Richard Graham as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
