2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Brendan Farrell of Oak Park, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 21, 2022 at the age of 26; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell was born in Oak Park to Mary | ||||||
6 | Alice (Gibbons) Farrell and Shaun T. Farrell on October 4, | ||||||
7 | 1996; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell lived a very rich life in Oak | ||||||
9 | Park, and, due to an autism diagnosis, he received an out of | ||||||
10 | district placement at Giant Steps, a day school located in | ||||||
11 | Lisle; during his academic journey, he was supported | ||||||
12 | immeasurably by District 97 and District 200; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell spent his life in Oak Park | ||||||
14 | enjoying summers at the pools and riding around town on his | ||||||
15 | adult tricycle; he especially loved his Friday visits to the | ||||||
16 | library, trips to the conservatory to see the fish, and rides | ||||||
17 | to the main fire station; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell was sweet, gentle, happy, goofy, | ||||||
19 | loving, and affectionate; though he was nonverbal, he | ||||||
20 | developed brilliant and memorable ways of communicating with | ||||||
21 | clarity and compassion; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell touched the lives of many people, | ||||||
2 | and these friends contributed to the brightness and fullness | ||||||
3 | of his life; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell attended Giant Steps from | ||||||
5 | kindergarten until his graduation at age twenty-two, and he | ||||||
6 | then enjoyed their adult day program, Canopy; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell had a strong bond and special | ||||||
8 | friendship with his maternal grandmother, the late Beatrice | ||||||
9 | Gibbons; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell is survived by his mother, Mary; | ||||||
11 | his father, Shaun; his brothers, Jack and Kevin; his | ||||||
12 | stepmother, Annmarie Dore; his grandma, Pat Farrell; and his | ||||||
13 | aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom had a special place in | ||||||
14 | their hearts for him; therefore, be it | ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Brendan Farrell and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further | ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
