SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Keyon Maurice Day of Springfield, who passed away on April 24, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Keyon Day was born to Keyanna Wilson and Lyndell Day in Springfield on October 31, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Keyon Day was a sophomore at Springfield Southeast High School, where he was a talented football and track athlete whose dedication and enthusiasm on the field inspired those around him; and

WHEREAS, Keyon Day brought joy and laughter to everyone he met; he was known for his infectious smile, his charismatic personality, and his ability to effortlessly make friends; he will be remembered for his bright, vibrant soul and his boundless kindness and compassion; and

WHEREAS, Keyon Day was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert James Day, Barbara Joyce (Ford) Day, Willie Davis, and Clara Davis; his uncle, Walter Lott Jr.; his aunt, Elyse Davis; and his cousins, Reginald Day and Shawntel Howze Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Keyon Day is survived by his parents, Keyanna Wilson and Lyndell (Shannon Morris) Day; his sisters, Kemariah Molton, Jazz'lynn Day, Amor Day, and Kamiyah Lowe; his brothers, Jayden Johnson, Jace Porter, and Donotello Harper Jr.; his grandmothers, Yolonda Wilson and Ida Day; his grandfather, Lyndell Davis; his aunt, Kimberly Wilson; his uncles, Dominique (Jo) Wilson and Geoffrey (Felecia) Day; several cousins; and other family members, friends, and teammates; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Keyon Maurice Day and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Keyon Day as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
