2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of David N. Anderson, who passed away on |
4 | | July 6, 2023; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was born to Silas and Annette |
6 | | Anderson in Harrisburg on July 19, 1946; he graduated from |
7 | | Harrisburg High School in 1964; he married Elizabeth in |
8 | | Decatur on March 15, 1969; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson worked in radio for ten years |
10 | | during the 1960s and early 1970s, spending the first two years |
11 | | with his hometown station WEBQ, followed by joining WGGH in |
12 | | nearby Marion while attending Southern Illinois University |
13 | | Carbondale, and then working at WDZ in Decatur; his final |
14 | | position in radio was a stint as news director of |
15 | | Springfield's WDBR and WTAX while pursuing a master's degree |
16 | | in communications at Sangamon State University, known today as |
17 | | the University of Illinois Springfield; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was hired as director of public |
19 | | affairs for the Illinois State Bar Association in 1974, and he |
20 | | maintained that title for 39 years until his retirement; |
21 | | during his tenure, he also served in a variety of other posts, |
22 | | including associate executive director; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was an exceptional pool player who |
2 | | loved stargazing, gardening, solving puzzles, listening to |
3 | | music, watching Fourth of July fireworks, and eating barbecue |
4 | | and chocolate cake; above all, he loved spending time with his |
5 | | family; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was a great communicator who was |
7 | | known for choosing his words carefully, valuing quality over |
8 | | quantity, and he firmly believed in science, fairness, and |
9 | | helping others; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was preceded in death by his |
11 | | parents; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, David Anderson was |
13 | | survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Bette" Anderson; |
14 | | his children, Matthew Anderson, Sarah Anderson, and Katherine |
15 | | (Nicholas) Moore; his grandchildren, Toby, Gabriel, Liliana, |
16 | | and Jameson; his sisters, Carolyn, Catherine, and Nancy; and |
17 | | 10 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it |
18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
20 | | David N. Anderson and extend our sincere condolences to his |
21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
