SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Idella Marie Williams, who passed away
4on March 8, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Idella Williams was born to Rufus Wardlow and
6Lillian Goodwin-Wardlow on April 21, 1933; she met Lionel
7Williams Sr. in 1949, and they settled in Robbins before
8relocating to Harvey in 1964; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Idella Williams was a consummate homemaker; she
10was known for her exceptional culinary skills, delighting
11friends and family alike with her gourmet dishes, including
12her famous pound cake, homemade rolls, and German chocolate
13cake; she was a dedicated family historian, preserving
14cherished memories across generations; she was a gracious
15hostess and welcomed countless guests into her home with
16warmth and elegance; her impeccable style was matched only by
17her kind and welcoming demeanor, making everyone feel like
18family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Idella Williams was a faithful member of Portland
20Street Church of God in Christ (COGIC); and
 
21    WHEREAS, Idella Williams was preceded in death by her

1parents; her husband, Lionel Williams Sr.; her children, Hyman
2and Ernestine Williams; and her siblings, Hatti Banks, Alvin
3Wardlow, Barbara Chatman, Geraldine Moody, and Helen Grace;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Idella Williams is survived by her children,
6Lionel (Sakinah) Williams Jr. and Barbara (Reginald) Booker;
7her adopted nephew, Wendell Banks; her adopted
8brothers-in-law, Guy, Kenneth, and James Williams; her
9grandchildren, Crystal, Omar, Kristen, Taliah, Rahman, Bryce,
10Demetrius, Kareemah, DeAndrea, and John; and numerous
11great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Idella Marie Williams and extend our sincere condolences to
16her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Idella Williams as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
