2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Idella Marie Williams, who passed away |
4 | | on March 8, 2024; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Idella Williams was born to Rufus Wardlow and |
6 | | Lillian Goodwin-Wardlow on April 21, 1933; she met Lionel |
7 | | Williams Sr. in 1949, and they settled in Robbins before |
8 | | relocating to Harvey in 1964; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Idella Williams was a consummate homemaker; she |
10 | | was known for her exceptional culinary skills, delighting |
11 | | friends and family alike with her gourmet dishes, including |
12 | | her famous pound cake, homemade rolls, and German chocolate |
13 | | cake; she was a dedicated family historian, preserving |
14 | | cherished memories across generations; she was a gracious |
15 | | hostess and welcomed countless guests into her home with |
16 | | warmth and elegance; her impeccable style was matched only by |
17 | | her kind and welcoming demeanor, making everyone feel like |
18 | | family; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Idella Williams was a faithful member of Portland |
20 | | Street Church of God in Christ (COGIC); and |
21 | | WHEREAS, Idella Williams was preceded in death by her |

1 | | parents; her husband, Lionel Williams Sr.; her children, Hyman |
2 | | and Ernestine Williams; and her siblings, Hatti Banks, Alvin |
3 | | Wardlow, Barbara Chatman, Geraldine Moody, and Helen Grace; |

5 | | WHEREAS, Idella Williams is survived by her children, |
6 | | Lionel (Sakinah) Williams Jr. and Barbara (Reginald) Booker; |
7 | | her adopted nephew, Wendell Banks; her adopted |
8 | | brothers-in-law, Guy, Kenneth, and James Williams; her |
9 | | grandchildren, Crystal, Omar, Kristen, Taliah, Rahman, Bryce, |
10 | | Demetrius, Kareemah, DeAndrea, and John; and numerous |
11 | | great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; therefore, |
12 | | be it |
13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Idella Marie Williams and extend our sincere condolences to |
16 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
17 | | further |
18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Idella Williams as an expression of |
