2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Diane Bond of Decatur, who passed away |
4 | | on March 31, 2024; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond was born to Jonas and Annie (Currie) |
6 | | Bond in Brownsville, Tennessee on October 14, 1953; at the age |
7 | | of two, she and her family relocated to Decatur, where she |
8 | | resided for the rest of her life; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond worked as a valued employee of |
10 | | Firestone for over 20 years; over the course of her career, she |
11 | | was noted for her unwavering dedication, work ethic, and |
12 | | loyalty; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond committed to her faith at an early |
14 | | age, becoming a charter member of Church of the Living God |
15 | | Temple #1; she later became a devoted member of Main Street |
16 | | Church of Decatur, where she served as head greeter and vice |
17 | | president of the Usher Board; she also co-founded the church's |
18 | | 50 and older group and was involved in its Mission Ministry and |
19 | | the grandparent program, Youth With a Positive Direction; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond loved engaging in heartfelt |
21 | | conversations over the phone, connecting with loved ones near |

1 | | and far, and delighted in shopping adventures with her niece, |
2 | | Shaquita; she also enjoyed spending time at the YMCA and |
3 | | attending meals with friends from the Every Other Friday |
4 | | Dinner Crew; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond was the matriarch of the Bond family, |
6 | | serving as a beacon of support and encouragement and never |
7 | | missing an event, game, graduation, or celebration of her |
8 | | loved ones; her warm and welcoming nature created a safe haven |
9 | | for all who knew her; she touched the lives of many, and she |
10 | | will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love, |
11 | | and selfless service; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond was preceded in death by her parents; |
13 | | her sisters, Willen (David) Kennedy, Mary (George) Ross, |
14 | | Lorine Bond, Annie (Bessie) Bond, Josie Bond, and Georgia |
15 | | Green; her brothers, John (Linnie Rose) Bond, Jimmie (Irene) |
16 | | Bond, Bobby Bond, Charlie T. (Juanita) Bond, Albert Bond, |
17 | | Sylvester Bond, James Bond, and Roger Walker Jr.; and her |
18 | | nephew, Lamon Bond; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Diane Bond is survived by her daughters, Martina |
20 | | Bond and Shannon Bond Joyner; her grandchildren, Javaughn |
21 | | Rivers, Amaris Joyner, Tristian Joyner, and MaCarlon Young; |
22 | | her great-grandchildren, Kingston, Kannon, and Logan; her |
23 | | sister-in-law, Mary Bond; her godsiblings, Dr. Thomas |

6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
8 | | Diane Bond and extend our sincere condolences to her family, |
9 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further |
10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to the family of Diane Bond as an expression of our |
12 | | deepest sympathy. |
