2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Richard Andrew DiPietro of Park Ridge, |
4 | | who passed away on March 2, 2024; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was born to Nicholas and Teresa |
6 | | DiPietro on June 2, 1943; he was raised in Chicago and |
7 | | graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1961; he married |
8 | | Kathleen "Kathy" DiPietro in 1962; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro worked in the typesetting |
10 | | industry, beginning his career with TotalTypography before |
11 | | opening his own company, The TypeSmiths, Inc. in 1981; his |
12 | | company eventually evolved into CrossTech Communications, from |
13 | | which he retired in 2013; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro had an interest in community |
15 | | issues, which led to his election as president of the Park |
16 | | Ridge Manor Community Association; subsequently, he was |
17 | | elected as an alderperson of the 2nd Ward in Park Ridge, |
18 | | serving for five terms from 1995 until 2013; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was a member of the Typographers |
20 | | International Association, where he served in multiple roles, |
21 | | including as president in 1992; additionally, he volunteered |

1 | | with the church services at St. Benedict's Nursing Home for 25 |
2 | | years; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was a devoted husband and |
4 | | father, known for his commitment to his family, his dry sense |
5 | | of humor, and his preference for working over taking |
6 | | vacations; he loved politics and the University of Notre Dame; |
7 | | and |
8 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was preceded in death by his |
9 | | parents; his in-laws, Edward Wenigman and Betty Wenigman; his |
10 | | sister, Antoinette Fabianski; his infant son, Richard Gerard |
11 | | DiPietro; his infant grandson, Joshua McPherson; his infant |
12 | | great-grandson, Jack Kretschmar; his brother-in-law, Jack |
13 | | Marinelli; and other extended relatives; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro is survived by his wife; his |
15 | | children, Robin (Stephanie Sherman) DiPietro, Beth (Andrew) |
16 | | McPherson, Tom (Katherine) DiPietro, Tracy (Sean) McCarthy, |
17 | | Amy Kawiecki, Megan (Michael) Steele, and Ryan (Kathryn) |
18 | | DiPietro; his grandchildren, Nathan (Maureen), Aaron (Cara), |
19 | | Zachary (Lauren), Chelsea (Andrew Kretschmar), Jacob |
20 | | (Kaitlyn), Cassidy, Justin (Lily Elderkin), Kristen, Chris |
21 | | (Shannon), Kaitlyn, Danielle, Samantha, Peter (Ellie), Paige, |
22 | | Caroline, Alex, Riley, Colin, Jackson, Anna, Savannah, Tyler, |
23 | | Nicholas, and Grace; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marie |

5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
6 | | Richard Andrew DiPietro and extend our sincere condolences to |
7 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
8 | | further |
9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
10 | | presented to the family of Richard DiPietro as an expression |
11 | | of our deepest sympathy. |
