SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jimmie M. Barrett of Havana, who
4passed away on February 19, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett was born to Ardee and Maxine
6Barrett in Baltimore, Maryland on September 6, 1946; he
7graduated from Woodland High School in Baltimore; he served in
8the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Marcia Stone
9in Havana, Illinois on August 14, 1976; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett worked as a laborer for Laborers'
11Local 231 and at the coal docks in Havana; he retired from the
12Havana Park District as superintendent of Parks and Grounds;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett was a member of Laborers' Local
15231 and the Izaak Walton League; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett loved watching his grandson, Max,
17play sports and his son, Jimmie, race; he also enjoyed
18fishing; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett was preceded in death by his
20parents, his wife, and his daughter, Joanna Embry; and

1    WHEREAS, Jimmie Barrett is survived by his son, Jimmie
2(Hillary) Barrett; his daughters, Lori (Brad) Hull and Tammie
3Lowman; his grandsons, Max Barrett, Bradley (Morgan) Hull, and
4Neil Embry; his granddaughter, Kelci (Zeke) Kennett; several
5great-grandchildren; his siblings, A. Kelly Barrett and Dee
6Ann Smith; his aunt, Bonnie Farwell; and his in-laws, Logan
7and Linda Tracy; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Jimmie M. Barrett and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jimmie Barrett as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
