SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ward T. Roberson of Rock Island, who
4passed away on January 28, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was born to Paul and Florence "Flo"
6Sallows Roberson in Moline on November 29, 1945; he married
7Sherry J. Nelson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island in
81967; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ward Roberson worked for John Deere Harvester in
10East Moline for 32 years, retiring in the late 1990s; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was a member of the Izaak Walton
12League of America, Davenport Chapter and the QC Parrot Heads;
13he bowled in the John Deere Bowling League for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ward Roberson enjoyed working on cars, watching
15the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, collecting coins, and
16fishing; he had an ear for music and enjoyed organizing all of
17his albums and songs by the generations in which they were
18released; he loved spending time with his family, especially
19his grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was preceded in death by his

1parents; his granddaughter, Elianna; and his twin brother,
2Wade Roberson Sr.; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ward Roberson is survived by his wife; his
4children, Wendy (Jim) Carlson and Tim (Mary Lou) Roberson; his
5grandchildren, Kyle Carlson, Kasey Carlson, Kelsey Carlson,
6and Matthew Roberson; and his siblings, Diane (Larry) Smith,
7Paulette (Shawn) Moreno, and Amy Kresse; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Ward T. Roberson and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Ward Roberson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
