SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lisle Eugene Hubbard of Rock Island,
4who passed away on January 6, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was born to Mary and Arthur Hubbard
6in Sherrard on June 30, 1927; he served in the U.S. Navy during
7World War II, serving two years on a ship in the Pacific; he
8married Carol Jean Bowman on October 22, 1949; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was a self-taught engineer capable
10of building or repairing almost anything; he began working in
11the pattern shop of John Deere Harvester Works (John Deere) in
12East Moline in 1950; he accepted a similar job in Los Alamos,
13New Mexico in 1957 before returning to John Deere in the Quad
14Cities in 1959, where he worked as a supervisor in the pattern
15shop, retiring in 1980; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard served on the church council at St.
17Paul Lutheran Church; he also served as an assistant
18scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 123; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was always working on a project,
20including building a 34-foot wooden boat, which he sailed down
21the Mississippi River to Florida, constructing a vacation

1cabin in the Adirondack Mountains, and assembling a long
2flight of stairs over sand dunes near Lake Michigan; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard will be remembered for his
4energetic, adventurous, generous, and loving personality; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard is survived by his wife; his sons,
6Kevin (Susan) Hubbard and Brad (Ann) Hubbard; and his
7grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Lily, and Noah;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Lisle Eugene Hubbard and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Lisle Hubbard as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
