SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jerome Floyd "Jerry" Brown of Tremont,
4who passed away on January 25, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Brown was born to Arnold and Betty (Black)
6Brown in Pekin on February 12, 1947; he served in the U.S. Army
7and was stationed in Germany; he married Deborah Hoagland in
8Pekin on February 27, 1970; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jerry Brown worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East
10Peoria and was a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW),
11serving as a past chief union steward and bargaining chairman
12and as the former president of the UAW Local 974 in East
13Peoria; he also worked for the UAW in Detroit, Michigan for
14seven years; he retired from Caterpillar Inc. and the UAW in
152004; he then served as road commissioner for Elm Grove
16Township in Tazewell County; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jerry Brown was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs
18and the Chicago Bears; he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting,
19working in his yard, playing poker at casinos, and staying
20busy; he loved spending time with his family and watching his
21grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Jerry Brown was preceded in death by his parents
2and his brother, Terry Brown; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jerry Brown is survived by his wife of 53 years;
4his sons, Daniel Brown, James (Mary Beth) Brown, and Jeremy
5Brown; his grandchildren, Ashley, Braden, Bryce, Emma, Alex,
6Blake, and Drew; his great-grandson, Kelan; his brothers, Mike
7(Pat) Brown and Kevin (Julie) Brown; and his sister-in-law,
8Jeanie Brown; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Jerome Floyd "Jerry" Brown and extend our sincere condolences
12to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Jerry Brown as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
