SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ernest Edwin "Ernie" Michaels of Elk
4Grove Village, who passed away on December 21, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was born to Edwin and Agnes
6(Czaja) Michaels in Chicago on January 18, 1930; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ernie worked as a commissioned driver for PepsiCo
8for 36 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels loved entertaining people with his
10banjo, partaking in many parades, senior center gigs, and
11other events, and he was the leader of the Windy City Jammers,
12playing with the band every Monday night at many restaurants
13throughout the years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was a former member of the Elk
15Grove Village Lions, helping with the organization's Candy Day
16and participating in its 4th of July celebrations with banjo
17sing-alongs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels enjoyed working out on a
19stationary bike at the Elk Grove Pavilion; and

1    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was known for always having a kind
2word for everyone; he will be remembered for being a loving,
3encouraging husband, a supportive best friend to his son, and
4a caring grandfather; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was preceded in death by his first
6wife, Gene (Omernik) Michaels; his daughter, Linda (John)
7Colonna; his parents; and his siblings, Ralph (Louise)
8Michaels, Earl Michaels, and Audrey (John) Ward; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels is survived by his second wife,
10Margaret (Lorincz) Michaels; his son, Dale (Susan) Michaels;
11his grandchildren, Daxton Michaels and Delaney Michaels; and
12many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Ernest Edwin "Ernie" Michaels and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Ernie Michaels as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
