2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Andrew Lee Hickmon, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | January 10, 2024; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Andrew Hickmon was born in Kerr, Arkansas to | ||||||
6 | Frank Lee and Minnie Lee (Crump) Hickmon on April 22, 1932; he | ||||||
7 | attended Carver G. Wilson grade and high school in North | ||||||
8 | Little Rock, Arkansas; he also attended Washburn Welding | ||||||
9 | School in Chicago; he served with United States Army from 1950 | ||||||
10 | to 1955 and fought in the Korean War; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Andrew Hickmon moved to Chicago following his | ||||||
12 | military service, where he met and married both of his wives, | ||||||
13 | Asa Lee Weakley and Mary Patricia Ratcliff; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Andrew Hickmon loved working with his hands and | ||||||
15 | helped build the Sears Tower in Chicago; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Andrew Hickmon enjoyed working on cars, working | ||||||
17 | in his garden, and fishing; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Andrew Hickmon was preceded in death by his first | ||||||
19 | wife, Asa Lee; his second wife, Mary; his parents; his | ||||||
20 | grandparents; his siblings; his daughter, Frenchie Hickmon; |

1 | his grandson, Antonio Hickmon; his son-in-law, Leonard | ||||||
2 | McDowell; his daughter-in-law, Diane (Moss) Hickmon; and | ||||||
3 | numerous other close family members and friends; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Andrew Hickmon is survived by his sons, Kenneth | ||||||
5 | Tayborn, Andrew L. (Glen) Hickmon, Frank D. Hickmon, Aaron D. | ||||||
6 | (Carlissa) Hickmon, Fort L. (Diane) Hickmon, and Edward C. | ||||||
7 | (Tameko) Hickmon; his daughters, Patricia A. (Anthony) Thomas, | ||||||
8 | Yvonne C. McDowell, Suzette Evans, Quincie D. (Frank) Hickmon, | ||||||
9 | Patronella Johnson, Frenchie S. Hickmon, and Cassandra E. | ||||||
10 | Hickmon; 27 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one | ||||||
11 | great-great-grandchildren; and many family and friends; | ||||||
12 | therefore, be it | ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Andrew Lee Hickmon and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further | ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Andrew Hickmon as an expression of | ||||||
20 | our deepest sympathy. |
