SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Shelley R. Rockwell of Moline, who passed away on January 2, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Shelley Rockwell was born in Blue Island to Richard and Joanne Gower Rockwell on April 4, 1955; he served in the U.S. Navy; he married Sherri A. Phillips in East Moline on February 12, 1977; and

WHEREAS, Shelley Rockwell worked for John Deere Harvester Works for 31 years; he was a member of the United Auto Workers; and

WHEREAS, Shelley Rockwell enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and doing projects around his home; some of his favorite times were those spent with friends and family; and

WHEREAS, Shelley Rockwell was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Todd and Billy Rockwell; his sisters, Vickie Burns and Bridget Rockwell; his nephews, Shawn Rockwell Jr. and Christopher Rockwell; and his nieces, Angela Burns and Kelly Burns; and

WHEREAS, Shelley Rockwell is survived by his wife, Sherri; his children, April (Andrew) Peterson, Jason Rockwell, and Jessica Rockwell; his grandchildren, Logan Peterson, Colin Peterson, Austin Rockwell, Zariah Rockwell, Justice Rockwell, Asia Rockwell, and Mia Bovan; his great-grandchildren, Jaylin and Jaydin; his sister, Cynthia (David) Gibbs; his brother, Shawn Rockwell; his brother-in-law, J. Richard Burns; his sister-in-law, Mary Rockwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Shelley R. Rockwell and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shelley Rockwell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
