SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Alphonse A. DeBruine of East Moline,
4who passed away on December 27, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alphonse DeBruine was born to Celest and Ermine
6Steene DeBruyne in Silvis on January 22, 1927; he graduated
7from United Township High School in 1944; he married Leora J.
8Leibee in Silvis on June 25, 1949; he served in U.S. Army Air
9Corps during World War II; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Following 38 years of service as a tool and die
11maker for John Deere Harvester Works, Alphonse DeBruine
12retired in 1985; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Alphonse DeBruine was a licensed pilot and
14enjoyed flying his Bellanca Cruiseair airplane from 1969 to
151988; and
 
16    WHEREAS, After his retirement, Alphonse DeBruine enjoyed
17golfing in the summer, making seven holes-in-one and becoming
18known as the "Mole Man" on the course, and bowling in the
19winter through the Senior League at Highland Park Bowl; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Alphonse DeBruine was affectionately known as

1"Grandpa Oak-O-Doak-O" to his grandchildren and
2great-grandchildren; he will be remembered as a loving
3husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Alphonse DeBruine was preceded in death by his
5infant daughter, Vallery; his parents; and his siblings,
6Frank, Morris, Agusta, Rose, Lara, Anna, and a sister in
7infancy; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Alphonse DeBruine is survived by his wife of 74
9years, Leora; his son, Vance (Carolyn) DeBruine; his
10grandchildren, Heather DeBruine, Matthew (Morgan) DeBruine,
11Nicole (Alex) Deitrich, and Brandon (Laura) DeBruine; and his
12great-grandchildren, Caleb, Wyatt, Robert, and Jackson, with
13one on the way; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Alphonse A. DeBruine and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Alphonse DeBruine as an expression
21of our deepest sympathy.
