2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Firefighter Andrew Benjamin "Drew" |
4 | | Price of the Chicago Fire Department, who passed away on |
5 | | November 13, 2023 due to injuries sustained in the line of |
6 | | duty; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Drew Price was born to Rochelle and Grant Price |
8 | | in Fort Worth, Texas on January 7, 1984; he graduated from the |
9 | | Chicago Fire Academy in 2009; he married his wife, Lara, in |
10 | | July 2020; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Drew Price served as a dedicated firefighter of |
12 | | the Chicago Fire Department for 14 years, joining in March |
13 | | 2009; he truly treasured being a fireman and instructing new |
14 | | cadets at the academy; he was assigned to Truck 44 in 2015, |
15 | | which he proudly drove while riding alongside Engine 55, and |
16 | | served as an EMT; known as "DP" to his colleagues, he loved his |
17 | | company like family and was honored to work beside them to |
18 | | serve and protect his community; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Drew Price was a member of the Chicago Blaze |
20 | | football team; he loved being a dog parent to his and Lara's |
21 | | dogs, Kai and Riley; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Drew Price was a devoted husband, son, brother, |
2 | | uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many and taught |
3 | | others to love harder, act kinder, and search for joy in every |
4 | | moment; he will be remembered for his selfless spirit and his |
5 | | heart of gold; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Drew Price was the husband of Lara Price; the |
7 | | brother of Courtney, Carissa, Jordan, and Natalie; the in-law |
8 | | of Karen and Tim Radez, Vanessa and Greg Mohr, Megan Price, |
9 | | Justin Reynolds, and Justin Weber; and the uncle of six nieces |
10 | | and nephews; therefore, be it |
11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Firefighter Andrew Benjamin "Drew" Price of the Chicago Fire |
14 | | Department and extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
15 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further |
16 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Drew Price and the brave men and |
18 | | women of Chicago Fire Department Engine 55 as an expression of |
19 | | our deepest sympathy. |
