SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Firefighter Andrew Benjamin "Drew" 
4Price of the Chicago Fire Department, who passed away on 
5November 13, 2023 due to injuries sustained in the line of 
6duty; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Drew Price was born to Rochelle and Grant Price 
8in Fort Worth, Texas on January 7, 1984; he graduated from the 
9Chicago Fire Academy in 2009; he married his wife, Lara, in 
10July 2020; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Drew Price served as a dedicated firefighter of 
12the Chicago Fire Department for 14 years, joining in March 
132009; he truly treasured being a fireman and instructing new 
14cadets at the academy; he was assigned to Truck 44 in 2015, 
15which he proudly drove while riding alongside Engine 55, and 
16served as an EMT; known as "DP" to his colleagues, he loved his 
17company like family and was honored to work beside them to 
18serve and protect his community; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Drew Price was a member of the Chicago Blaze 
20football team; he loved being a dog parent to his and Lara's 
21dogs, Kai and Riley; and

1    WHEREAS, Drew Price was a devoted husband, son, brother, 
2uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many and taught 
3others to love harder, act kinder, and search for joy in every 
4moment; he will be remembered for his selfless spirit and his 
5heart of gold; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Drew Price was the husband of Lara Price; the 
7brother of Courtney, Carissa, Jordan, and Natalie; the in-law 
8of Karen and Tim Radez, Vanessa and Greg Mohr, Megan Price, 
9Justin Reynolds, and Justin Weber; and the uncle of six nieces 
10and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
13Firefighter Andrew Benjamin "Drew" Price of the Chicago Fire 
14Department and extend our sincere condolences to his family, 
15friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
17presented to the family of Drew Price and the brave men and 
18women of Chicago Fire Department Engine 55 as an expression of 
19our deepest sympathy.
