2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Dr. Robert M. Wells of Rock Island, |
4 | | who passed away on November 15, 2023; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Wells was born to Eugene Edward and Teresa |
6 | | (Sersig) Wells in Rock Island on August 1, 1928; he married |
7 | | Marianna Bolen in Dekalb on June 19, 1954; he earned his |
8 | | medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of |
9 | | Medicine; he served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until he was |
10 | | honorably discharged in 1962; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Wells practiced family medicine and general |
12 | | surgery in Rock Island; he worked at St. Anthony's Hospital, |
13 | | the Franciscan Medical Center, and the Rock Island Medical |
14 | | Society before retiring in 1993; he was noted by colleagues |
15 | | and staff members for his professionalism, knowledge, and |
16 | | congeniality, and he maintained the highest standards of |
17 | | patient care; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Wells was a member of St. Mary's Catholic |
19 | | Church in Rock Island, the Knights of Columbus, the National |
20 | | Rifle Association, and many wildlife conservation |
21 | | organizations; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Wells enjoyed traveling with his wife, |
2 | | fishing, and hunting; above all, he enjoyed spending time with |
3 | | his family and friends; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Wells was preceded in death by his wife of 54 |
5 | | years; his parents; and his siblings, Mary Ann Costello, |
6 | | Theresa Cavins, John Wells, and Joseph Wells; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Wells is survived by his children, |
8 | | Christopher Wells, Mark (Monica) Wells, Geoffrey (Mary Ann) |
9 | | Wells, Lisa Wells, and Mara Baber; his grandchildren, Shannon, |
10 | | Patrick, Caitlin, Brenden, Amanda, Cameron, Catherine, |
11 | | Christina, Michael, Kari Anna, Ethan, and Maya; his |
12 | | great-granddaughter, Mary-Lou; his sisters, Jeanne (Howie) |
13 | | Visteen and Joan Wells; and a host of nieces and nephews; |
14 | | therefore, be it |
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
17 | | Dr. Robert M. Wells and extend our sincere condolences to his |
18 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
19 | | further |
20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Dr. Wells as an expression of our |
22 | | deepest sympathy. |
