SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Oscar M. Sandoval of Silvis, who
4passed away on November 12, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval was born to Joseph and Carmen
6Morales Sandoval in East Moline on January 13, 1928; he served
7in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Celia "Sally"
8Quijas in Davenport, Iowa on February 20, 1954; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval worked for the Rock Island
10Arsenal, traveling the world training people how to use the
11M198 Howitzer Canon; he retired after 30 years of service in
121988; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval was a deacon at the House of the
14Lord Church and a member of Moline American Legion Post 246; he
15coached his sons' Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams
16and his grandsons' baseball teams; in his younger years, he
17was a member of the Last Roundup softball team; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval loved dancing with his wife; he
19enjoyed sports and was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; he
20cherished his family and his faith; and

1    WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval was preceded in death by his
2parents; his infant twin brothers, Peter Sandoval and John
3Sandoval; and his other siblings, Ruben (Ramona) Sandoval,
4William "Willie" Sandoval, Valencia Garcia, Alfonse Sandoval,
5Harry Sandoval, and Joseph "Moe" Sandoval; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval is survived by his wife; his sons,
7Pastor William (Patti) Sandoval and Stephen Sandoval; his
8grandchildren, Jake, Alex, Kevin (Lauren), Jennifer, and John;
9his great-grandchildren, Will, Henry, Luke, Levi, Nova, Jace,
10and John Jr.; his siblings, Rufina Guerrero, Charlie (Ruby)
11Sandoval, Mary (Phillip) Garza, and Fred (Pauline) Sandoval;
12his sister-in-law, Rita Sandoval; and many nieces, nephews,
13great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Oscar M. Sandoval and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Oscar Sandoval as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
