SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Reverend Dennis Bushkofsky of Oak
4Park, who passed away February 2, 2023 at the age of 64; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was born to Ronald and Marie
6(Kuper) Bushkofsky in Oelwein, Iowa on July 15, 1958; he
7married Linda Post, and they had two children, Judy and Jayden
8Jackson; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky received a Bachelor of Arts in
10Music from Luther College in 1980; he earned a Master of
11Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in
121986, and he later earned a Master of Arts in Liturgical
13Studies from St. John University in 1999; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky served congregations of the
15Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in Pennsylvania,
16Minnesota, and Illinois; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky devoted a portion of his ministry
18to intentional interim assignments, guiding congregations
19through pastoral transitions; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was an editor and writer of

1liturgical materials and an educator in the adult
2catechumenate movement; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was an active figure in the
4Community of Congregations, an interfaith organization serving
5Oak Park, River Forest, and surrounding communities; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was preceded in death by his
7father; and
 
8    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Rev. Bushkofsky was
9survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Post Bushkofsky; his
10children, Judy and Jayden Jackson; his granddaughters, Jordyn
11Jackson and Alexandria Mauricio; his mother; his brother,
12Duane; and a host of family, friends, colleagues, and Oak Park
13residents; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Reverend Dennis Bushkofsky and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Rev. Bushkofsky as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
