SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert R. "Dick" Aitken of Silvis, who
4passed away on October 11, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Aitken was born to William and Ruby
6(Inglish) Aitken in Moline on April 2, 1927; he served in the
7U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. William P. Biddle during World War
8II; he married Carol Mefford in Springfield on March 5, 1949;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dick Aitken worked in construction for 43 years,
11retiring in 1989; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dick Aitken belonged to Aldersgate United
13Methodist Church, known today as Riverside UMC; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dick Aitken and his wife enjoyed fishing and
15spending time at the family cabin in Conesville, Iowa; he also
16enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and attending their games;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dick Aitken was preceded in death by his wife;
19his daughter, Laury Heckenkamp; and his grandson, Kevin
20Depies; and

1    WHEREAS, Dick Aitken is survived by his daughter, Kathy
2(Jim) Depies; his son-in-law, Michael Heckenkamp; his
3grandchildren, Erik Depies and Mitchel (Jennifer) Heckenkamp;
4and his great-grandchildren, Jackson Depies, Sam Depies, and
5Cullen Heckenkamp; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Robert R. "Dick" Aitken and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Dick Aitken as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
