SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James Byron "Jim" Jurgens of Arthur,
4who passed away on March 18, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens was born in Urbana to Ervin L. and
6Dorothy B. Jurgens on December 31, 1941; he attended Arthur
7High School and Culver Academy and graduated from Northwestern
8University in 1964 and the University of Illinois College of
9Law in 1967; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens spent 32 years working at the First
11National Bank of Chicago in the law department; he then spent
12almost 20 years with the State Bank of Arthur; he found great
13satisfaction in doing his job the best way he could, providing
14solid advice and direction in charting the right path; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens's lifelong philosophy revolved around
16finding something you love and doing it well; he was
17completely dedicated to his work and his own beloved family;
18he especially enjoyed family holidays and trips visiting
19family throughout the country, and he loved the town and
20community of Arthur; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens is survived by his wife of 57 years,

1Patricia; his son, David (Mary) Jurgens; his daughter,
2Jennifer (Thomas) Murphy; his daughter, Kathryn Lofy; his son,
3Michael (Melissa) Jurgens; his grandchildren, Jack Jurgens,
4Hailey Jurgens, Taylor Jurgens, Gavin Murphy, Parker Murphy,
5Connor Lofy, Kyle Lofy, Ella Jurgens, Henry Jurgens, and Hazel
6Jurgens; and his sister, Janet Winningham; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James Byron "Jim" Jurgens and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Jurgens as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
