SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marion Thompson of Aledo, who passed
4away on October 4, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born to Allan and Opal
6(Walton) Thompson in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on October 23, 1936;
7after high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served the local community as an
9auxiliary policeman for many years; he also worked as a
10precision tool grinder for JI Case for 33 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served as a scout leader and a
12rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marion Thompson enjoyed restoring tractors and
14lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was preceded in death by his
16parents and his brother, Theodore Thompson; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Kathryn
18Thompson; his children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia
19Thompson, and Joshua Thompson; his grandchildren, Rob,

1Stephen, and Courtney; his brother, Eugene Thompson; his
2niece, Amber; and his nephew, Aaron; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Marion Thompson and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Marion Thompson as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
