SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Frederick "Bill" Schwenneker,
4who passed away on October 8, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker was born in Hillsdale to
6Frederick and Hazel (Melody) Schwenneker on July 11, 1928; he
7graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1946, where he played
8football, basketball, and track; he then joined the United
9States Navy and honorably served his country until 1948; he
10married Darlene Marie Amery at Peace Lutheran Church in Port
11Byron on June 11, 1952; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker was involved with farming for
13over 70 years; he achieved success as a master agent for
14Country Companies Insurance and was one of the top sales
15agents in the State several times; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker relished a good competition well
17into his later years, especially on the golf course; his
18Sunday morning golf group and Monday night golf league with
19his best friends highlighted his week; he also had a lifelong
20love of horses and prided himself on his ability to train and
21work with horses; for many years, he enjoyed working with the
22Buccaneer 4-H Club and attending weekly horse shows, where he

1joked that he did all the work and his daughter got all the
2glory; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker was preceded in death by his
4parents; his wife of 54 years, Darlene; his infant daughter,
5Jeanna; and his brother, Donald; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker is survived by his daughter,
7Victoria (Buell) Cole; his grandchildren, Courtney (Mark)
8Nelson and Scott (Rachel) Cole; his great-grandchildren,
9Olivia, Ryan, and Brooke Nelson and Gabriel and David William
10Cole; his special cousin, Cindy (Al) Knott; and many great
11friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14William Frederick "Bill" Schwenneker and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Bill Schwenneker as an expression
19of our deepest sympathy.
