2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of James Lee Adams, who passed away on |
4 | | September 27, 2023; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, James Adams was born on December 31, 1952 and was |
6 | | raised with his brothers and grew up with a passion for |
7 | | construction and for entertaining; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, James Adams worked in construction, finding joy |
9 | | in building and creating; with an unwavering commitment to |
10 | | excellence, he became well known in his community for his |
11 | | exceptional work and made a significant impact on countless |
12 | | projects throughout his career, underselling his services well |
13 | | below market value because his primary goal was to help his |
14 | | community; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, James Adams was a gifted gospel singer who used |
16 | | his soulful voice to touch hearts and uplift spirits; along |
17 | | with his beloved wife Karen, he traveled the globe via cruise |
18 | | ships and explored the wonders of the world; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, James Adams cherished his family deeply and |
20 | | dedicated his time to creating strong bonds with his children |
21 | | and grandchildren, reveling in their accomplishments and |

1 | | providing support in times of need; his presence at family |
2 | | gatherings was always marked with a warm smile, a song on |
3 | | demand, and joyful laughter; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, James Adams leaves a legacy of love, faith, and |
5 | | resilience; his life was a testament to the power of hard work, |
6 | | kindness, and gratitude; he had a true passion for life and |
7 | | provided an example of how to make a lasting impact on the |
8 | | world through giving; he will be remembered as a devoted |
9 | | husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, a loyal |
10 | | friend, a master of construction, and a passionate gospel |
11 | | singer; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, James Adams is survived by his wife of 27 years, |
13 | | Karen Adams; his children, James, Julius, Jennifer, Lisa, |
14 | | Monica, and Nicole; his grandson, Elijah; his 15 |
15 | | grandchildren, his one great-grandchild; his brother, Ralph; |
16 | | and his nieces and nephews; therefore, be it |
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | James Lee Adams and extend our sincere condolences to his |
20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
