2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Gerald Vernon "Jerry" Hackman, who |
4 | | passed away on September 3, 2023; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Hackman was born in Canton to Vernon and |
6 | | Pauline Hackman on November 19, 1943; he graduated from Havana |
7 | | High School and spent several years in the United States Army; |
8 | | and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Hackman worked at the Caterpillar Tractor |
10 | | Company for 36 years; he retired in 2001 after spending most of |
11 | | his career in accounting; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Hackman had a passion for baseball cards, |
13 | | collectables, and antiques, and he and his wife owned the |
14 | | Havana Antique Emporium in Havana and What-A-Hit Baseball Card |
15 | | Shop in Delavan for many years; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Hackman was a member and past commander of |
17 | | VFW Post #6408 in Havana; he was an avid duck hunter and bowler |
18 | | in his early years; he was a fan of Nascar and the Chicago |
19 | | White Sox; he enjoyed gathering with friends and family often |
20 | | to play cards and marbles; his legendary fresh squeezed |
21 | | lemonade was the best, according to his grandchildren; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Hackman was preceded in death by his |
2 | | parents and by his grandson, Brady Hackman; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Hackman is survived by his wife of 27 |
4 | | years, Christina (Dringenberg) Hackman; his sons, Shane |
5 | | (Kelly) Hackman and Troy (Brooke) Hackman; his stepchildren, |
6 | | Joe (Emily) Connell and Mandi (Dan) Bailey; his grandchildren, |
7 | | Morghan, Kaileb, Lyndsey, and Jace Hackman, Sable, Zoe, and |
8 | | Skylar Cartwright, and Katherine Connell; his |
9 | | step-grandchildren, Kaleb and Karlie Flinn and Olivia Summers; |
10 | | his sisters-in-law, Barb Kramer, Deborah (Gary) Cartwright, |
11 | | and Vicki (Mel) Canada; and his brothers-in-law, Dave |
12 | | (Christy) Dringenberg, Jerry (Lil) Dringenberg, and Larry |
13 | | (Sunnie) Dringenberg; therefore, be it |
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Gerald Vernon "Jerry" Hackman and extend our sincere |
17 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
18 | | him; and be it further |
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Jerry Hackman as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy. |
