SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Earl Joseph Robbins of Aledo, who
4passed away on August 12, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Earl Robbins was born to Harold and Sarah Jane
6(Nichols) Robbins in Monmouth on July 3, 1933; he served in the
7U.S. Army from May 27, 1953 to May 26, 1955; he married Joyce
8McCaw at the Aledo United Methodist Church on September 5,
91953; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Earl Robbins farmed in the Ohio Grove Township
11for most of his life; in his earlier years, he also worked at
12the Viola Sale Barn and plowed snow for the State of Illinois;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Earl Robbins served as a trustee of the Sunbeam
15United Presbyterian Church; he previously served as a trustee
16and elder at Burgess Presbyterian Church and as a trustee of
17the Ohio Grove Township; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Earl Robbins, who was known his ability to banter
19with anyone, enjoyed sitting and visiting with family and
20friends alike; in his spare time, he especially enjoyed
21attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and he most

1recently attended his great-grandson's t-ball game; he was an
2avid fisherman and loved camping with his family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Earl Robbins was preceded in death by his parents
4and his siblings, Leonard Robbins, Leroy Robbins, and June
5Lowery; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Earl Robbins is survived by his wife; his
7children, Robert (Susan) Robbins, Ronald Robbins, and Renee
8(Steve) Lloyd; his grandchildren, Shay Robbins, Nick Robbins,
9Shantell Matney, Blake Robbins, Joe Elliott, Bree Wakeland,
10and Kevin Lloyd; 12 great-grandchildren; his godson, Rick
11Boruff; and his "adopted" sons, Mike and Steve Staker, Mike
12Crawford, and Todd Tracy; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Earl Joseph Robbins and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Earl Robbins as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
