SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joseph William "Bill" Maloney of Avon,
4who passed away on July 31, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Maloney was born to Joseph and Hazel Maloney
6in Murrayville on February 10, 1930; he attended the local
7elementary school and later Routt Catholic High School in
8Jacksonville; he served overseas in the U.S. Army during the
9Korean War from 1952 to 1953; after his discharge, he and his
10wife, Lois, moved to Avon; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Maloney worked as a salesman at the Neff
12Company, the local John Deere dealership in Avon; he later
13became store manager before ultimately purchasing the
14dealership in 1973; he also enjoyed farming and soon acquired
15his first acreage, to which he continuously added; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Maloney was a member of St. Augustine
17Catholic Church for 67 years; he was also a member of the
18Knights of Columbus; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Maloney and his wife supported many
20community events, especially the Avon Fat Steer Show and Cake
21Auction; and

1    WHEREAS, Bill Maloney lived a big life and enjoyed
2collecting antiques, traveling, and raising camels; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Maloney is survived by his wife of 71 years,
4Lois; his children, Therese (Tom) Van Voorn, Ceci Maloney,
5Eric (Cilia) Maloney, Vince (Kim) Maloney, and Greg (Linda)
6Maloney; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one
7brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and six camels; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Joseph William "Bill" Maloney and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Bill Maloney as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
