SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Shawn Altemeier of Taylor
4Ridge, who passed away on July 25, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Shawn Altemeier was born to Clyde "Tiger"
6Altemeier and Virginia "Ginny" (Longley) Altemeier in
7Davenport, Iowa on March 17, 1971; he served in the U.S. Navy;
8he earned a bachelor's degree from Buena Vista University; he
9married Tammy Hansen in Rock Island on August 3, 1991; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Shawn Altemeier worked as a heavy equipment
11operator for International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE)
12Local 150 of Rock Island; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Shawn Altemeier enjoyed making others happy by
14cooking and organizing the next get-together; he loved sports,
15hunting and training dogs, and going on spontaneous
16adventures; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Shawn Altemeier was affectionately known as
18"Cubby" and "Papa", and above all else, his family was the most
19important to him; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Shawn Altemeier was preceded in death by his

1father; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Shawn Altemeier is survived by his wife, Tammy;
3his children, Taylor (Brandon) Smith, Kayla Altemeier, and
4Alac Altemeier; his grandchildren, Payton, Cameron, and River
5Smith; his mother; his sisters, Nikki DeFauw and Lynette
6Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10William Shawn Altemeier and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Shawn Altemeier as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
