SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald E. "Don" Cryer of Annawan,
4formerly of Hooppole, who passed away on July 18, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Cryer was born to Henry and Ella (DeSplinter)
6Cryer in Thomas on July 17, 1927; he graduated from Hooppole
7High School in 1945; he served in the U.S. Navy, receiving the
8rank of seaman first class; he married Rita Croegaert on June
910, 1950; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Don Cryer farmed in rural Hooppole for over 20
11years and worked at Hooppole Lumber and Grain for 20 years
12before retiring; after retirement, he began working at a local
13farm into his 80s; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Don Cryer was a life member of St. Mary's
15Catholic Church in Hooppole and the Hooppole American Legion;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don Cryer enjoyed golfing, playing cards, mowing
18his lawn, listening to country music, and eating sweets,
19especially pie; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Don Cryer was preceded in death by his parents;

1his wife of 64 years, Rita Cryer; his sisters, Elma Bruder and
2Pearl Heitzler; and his son-in-law, Ron DeFauw; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Don Cryer is survived by his children, Jeff
4Cryer, Jason (Amanda) Cryer, Debbie Cryer, Christie (Jeff)
5Brown, Brenda Cryer, and Julie DeFauw; his grandchildren, Cory
6(Kaitlynn Francois) Brown, Kari (Jessica) Curtner, Ryan
7(Rachel) DeFauw, Kyle DeFauw, Ella Cryer, and Preston Cryer;
8and his great-grandson, Easten Brown; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Donald E. "Don" Cryer and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Don Cryer as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
