SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard Allen "Dick" Smock of
4Andalusia, who passed away on May 29, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Smock was born to John M. and Eva M.
6Hopper Smock in Rock Island on April 11, 1949; he married
7Marlowe Robinson at the First Presbyterian Church in Milan on
8May 15, 1971; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Smock served in the U.S. Army during the
10Vietnam War; he received numerous honors for his military
11service, including the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze
12Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the
13Combat Infantry Badge, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation
14Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, and the Bronze
15Star Medal with "V" Device and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Smock worked as an assembler for Raymond
17Toyota Manufacturing in Muscatine, Iowa for 25 years; he
18retired in 2014; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Smock was a member of Reynolds American
20Legion Post 1166 and Vietnam Veterans of America #299; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Smock enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling,
2boating, and riding UTVs side by side with friends; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Smock was preceded in death by his
4parents and his sisters, Virginia Carpio and Sandra Pate; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Smock is survived by his wife, Marlowe
6Smock, and his siblings, Bill Sehnert, Jack Smock, and Mary
7Alderson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Richard Allen "Dick" Smock and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Richard Smock as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
