SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Warren Eugene "Gene" Miles of Nokomis,
4who passed away on April 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Miles was born to Warren Harding and Eva
6Rita (Pieper) Miles in McLeansboro on February 7, 1942; he
7graduated from Nokomis High School in 1960; he attended the
8University of Illinois; he married Gloria Kamer Cox, and they
9later divorced; he then married Jane Parker on June 20, 1981;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gene Miles and his father, Warren, owned and
12operated Miles Construction, with the business's very early
13employees including his own sons, Doug and Jeff; he was also
14the owner of Miles Ford in Nokomis for many years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gene Miles was a member of St. Louis Catholic
16Church in Nokomis, the Jaycees, the Knights of Columbus, the
17Masons, the Shriners, and the Nokomis City Council; he also
18served as a member on the Montgomery County Board for over 16
19years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gene Miles was a car enthusiast who also enjoyed
21golfing, doing yard work, and mowing; most of all, he loved

1sitting on his patio while watching his grandchildren ride
2bikes and play ball in the yard; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Gene Miles is survived by his wife, Jane; his
4children, Doug (Darla) Miles, Jeff (Jill Bertolino Fasiq)
5Miles, and Jessie (Justin) Hamrock; his grandchildren, Jordan
6Miles, Austin Miles, Jack Hamrock, Joslyn Hamrock, and Jace
7Hamrock; his great-granddaughter, Shine; his sisters-in-law
8and brothers-in-law, Debbie (Mike) Coling and Neil (Deb)
9Parker; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Warren Eugene "Gene" Miles and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Gene Miles as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
