|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
3 | | congratulate the Very Reverend Milos M. Vesin, Ph.D., on the |
4 | | occasion of his retirement as pastor of St. Archangel Michael |
5 | | Serbian Orthodox Church; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin was born to Marinko and Nada |
7 | | Vesin in Novi Sad, Serbia on February 25, 1956; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin graduated from St. Arsenije |
9 | | Serbian Orthodox Seminary in Sremski Karlovci, Serbia in 1975; |
10 | | he then attended Isidor Bajic Music School, majoring in |
11 | | solo-singing; he continued his studies at the Theological |
12 | | Faculty of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade, Serbia, |
13 | | graduating in 1980; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin joined the newly founded |
15 | | clergy choir St. Sava in the Diocese of Shumadija-Kragujevac, |
16 | | Serbia, becoming its conductor and touring in Serbia, Austria, |
17 | | Switzerland, Germany, France, and Romania; he oversaw the |
18 | | choir's production of several liturgical music recordings; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin then pursued postgraduate |
20 | | studies in pastoral theology and psychology at the Roman |
21 | | Catholic Theological Faculty in Switzerland; he also continued |

1 | | his music studies at the Academy for Church Music in |
2 | | Switzerland; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, From 1980 to 1995, the V. Rev. Dr. Vesin |
4 | | represented the Serbian Orthodox Church at conferences in |
5 | | Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Hungary, |
6 | | Romania, Greece, Sweden, Holland, England, Australia, and the |
7 | | United States; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin married Dragana Todorovid |
9 | | in 1988, and their son, Marko, was born in 1991; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, V. Rev. Dr. Vesin was ordained as a deacon by St. |
11 | | Sava in 1988, and he was assigned to St. George Cathedral |
12 | | Church in Novi Sad, Serbia; he was then ordained into the |
13 | | priesthood in 1990; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, V. Rev. Dr. Vesin has served as the pastor of St. |
15 | | Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church since 1990, first in |
16 | | South Chicago and then in Lansing; during his tenure, he |
17 | | earned his Ph.D. in Psychology in 2006; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his pastoral duties, The V. Rev. |
19 | | Dr. Vesin has served as a professor at St. Sava Theological |
20 | | Seminary in Libertyville, where he teaches church chant, |
21 | | homiletics, and pastoral psychology; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin has also authored and |
2 | | translated numerous books, and he has helped produce many |
3 | | musical recordings; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, The V. Rev. Dr. Vesin's retirement will be |
5 | | celebrated by the parish of St. Archangel Michael Serbian |
6 | | Orthodox Church on October 1, 2023; after his final divine |
7 | | liturgy service, a banquet will be held in his honor at the |
8 | | Serbian Social Center in Lansing; therefore, be it
|
9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the |
11 | | Very Reverend Milos M. Vesin, Ph.D., on his retirement as |
12 | | pastor of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, and |
13 | | we thank him for 33 years of faithful service to the parish; |
14 | | and be it further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to the V. Rev. Dr. Vesin as an expression of our |
17 | | esteem and respect.
