2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Stacey Ann (Winch) Gooden of |
4 | | Springfield, who passed away on April 25, 2023; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden was born to John Morris and Lois |
6 | | (Ross)
Winch in Springfield on August 31, 1950; she graduated |
7 | | from Springfield High School in 1968 and attended Western |
8 | | Illinois University; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden owned and operated Winch Floral |
10 | | Shop, which was in business in
Springfield for over 100 years; |
11 | | for 40 years, she enjoyed making magnolia wreaths for the |
12 | | annual National American
Legion Lincoln Pilgrimage from the |
13 | | Illinois State Capital to the Lincoln Tomb; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden served as a judge
for the Illinois |
15 | | Skills Competition for several years; she was also a member of |
16 | | the Illinois State Floral Association, a Brownie scout leader, |
17 | | and a member of the Springfield Jaycee's Auxiliary, also known |
18 | | as "the
Jayshees"; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden enjoyed
attending her |
20 | | grandchildren's sporting events, tending to plants, playing |
21 | | board games, doing puzzles, shopping, attending many flower |
|

1 | | conventions, and traveling to England, the
Bahamas, Hawaii, |
2 | | and the Lake of the Ozarks; she was also an avid reader; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden was known for being
generous to |
4 | | those in need and having a fondness for all animals; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden was preceded in death by her |
6 | | parents; her sister, Regina Oldbury; her brother, John Winch |
7 | | Jr.;
and her honorary family, Ben and Ida Victor; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Stacey Gooden is survived by her daughters, |
9 | | Laurel (Terry) Castleman, Christina (Mark) Norman, and Molly |
10 | | Jo Gooden; her grandchildren, Micah, Caleb, and Isabelle
|
11 | | Norman; her sisters, Diana Hemmenway, Veronica Winch, and |
12 | | Renee Bollinger; and several nieces,
nephews, and cousins; |
13 | | therefore, be it
|
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
|
16 | | Stacey Ann (Winch) Gooden and extend our sincere
condolences |
17 | | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be |
18 | | it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

20 | | presented to the family of Stacey Gooden as an expression of
