| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Michael Kent Yates of Washington, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 29, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Yates was born in Peoria to James W. and |
| 6 | | Ruth M. Sampson Yates on April 14, 1951; he
married Patricia M. |
| 7 | | Kimball in Washington on February 28, 1998; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Michael Yates worked in the banking industry for |
| 9 | | many years, retiring from Associated Bank in 1998; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Michael Yates loved anything associated with the |
| 11 | | "Mother Road" and was a founding member of the Route 66
|
| 12 | | Association of Illinois; he loved people, getting to know |
| 13 | | their stories and sharing his own; among
his many talents were |
| 14 | | playing the piano, woodworking in his shop that he built with |
| 15 | | Patty, and
tending to his plants and garden; he also loved |
| 16 | | hunting for treasures in antique shops and had a
sweet tooth, |
| 17 | | which he often satisfied with something he would make from |
| 18 | | scratch; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Michael Yates was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Michael Yates is survived by his wife, Patty; his |
| 2 | | children and their families: son, Ryan (Karyn) Yates, |
| 3 | | grandchild, Alex (Angel) Yates, and great-granddaughter,
|
| 4 | | Josephine; granddaughter, Rylie Yates; son, Adam (Denae) |
| 5 | | Yates, and grandchildren,
Ava, Brooklyn, Cora, and Dylan; son, |
| 6 | | Luke Conger, and grandson, Lathan; daughter,
Miranda (Brent) |
| 7 | | Cox, and grandchildren, Hadleigh, Hutson, and Henley; son,
|
| 8 | | Derek (Alexis) Conger, and grandchildren, Alynn, Emma, and |
| 9 | | Daniel; two beloved
Yorkies, Mayce and Lucy; his brother, |
| 10 | | Kevin Yates; his sister, Marsha (David) Webb, nephew, Donhavan |
| 11 | | (Amy) Webb, and great-nieces, Madelyn and Mikayla Webb; his |
| 12 | | nephew,
Tyler Webb, and great-niece, Gracie Jo; therefore, be |

| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Michael Kent Yates and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 18 | | further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Michael Yates as an expression of |
| 21 | | our deepest sympathy.
