|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Robert Eugene Rouse of Oakwood, who |
4 | | passed away on April 21, 2023; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rouse was born to Paul V. Rouse Sr. and |
6 | | Annie M. (Hopkins) Rouse in Harrisburg on October 29, 1938; he |
7 | | attended St. Patrick's Grade School and Schlarman Academy in |
8 | | Danville before enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 17; he |
9 | | served in several countries, including Vietnam, and he was a |
10 | | member of the Honor Guard, serving President John F. Kennedy; |
11 | | he dedicated nine years of service before his honorable |
12 | | discharge and was a Purple Heart recipient; he married |
13 | | Wardella Foster on January 17, 1964, and they raised four |
14 | | children; he later married Mary Ann Fannin on April 25, 1987, |
15 | | and he gained two more sons;
and

16 | | WHEREAS, After his military service, Robert Rouse returned |
17 | | to Danville; he worked at General Motors and for the U.S. |
18 | | Postal Service before joining the Danville Police Department |
19 | | in 1971; over a 22-year span, he served as a sketch artist, |
20 | | bomb technician, crime-scene detective, and patrol officer |
21 | | before retiring in 1993; he joined the U.S. Marshals Service |
22 | | in 1994, working another 20 years before his final retirement |
23 | | in 2014; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rouse loved jazz and Motown, especially |
2 | | Junior Walker & The All Stars' hit song "Shotgun"; he was a |
3 | | devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and the |
4 | | Fighting Illini; his favorite shows were Gunsmoke, Perry |
5 | | Mason, and The Andy Griffith Show and one of his favorite |
6 | | movies was The Outlaw Josey Wales; as an avid reader, he had a |
7 | | wealth of knowledge and was a history buff; he enjoyed |
8 | | capturing moments with his camera or tinkering around with |
9 | | electronics; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rouse was preceded in death by his |
11 | | parents; his daughter, Carla J. Rouse; his son, Rory A. Micou; |
12 | | his sisters, Marietta (Rouse) Austin and Esther (Rouse) Avery; |
13 | | and his grandson, Joshua J. Robinson; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rouse is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; |
15 | | his daughter, Evonne M. (Leroy) Robinson Jr.; his sons, Robert |
16 | | E. Rouse Jr., Mark E. (Candy) Rouse, Eric (Jennifer) Bolser, |
17 | | and Patrick (Jamie) Bolser; his grandchildren, Juan Robinson, |
18 | | Robreon Rouse, Nicole Rouse, Jasmine Rouse, Alexis Micou, |
19 | | Aiyana Rouse, Laila Rouse, Jessica Spencer, Laciee Bolser, |
20 | | Jordan Bolser, and Breanna Bolser; his 18 great-grandchildren; |
21 | | his five great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carol (the |
22 | | Rev. Allen) Dixon, Lucy Dumas, Jane (Carey) Grant, Jean Rouse, |
23 | | Anna Kennel, Nancy Akers, and Cynthia Rouse; his brothers, |
