SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lela Tyler, who passed away on
4February 28, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lela Tyler graduated from Wendell Phillips High
6School; she attended Kennedy-King College and the Chicago
7Baptist Institute; she graduated from the Lydia Adams School
8of Beauty Culture, where she earned her License of Cosmetology
9from the State of Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lela Tyler opened her own beauty salon, Touch of
11Beauty, which she successfully operated for 21 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lela Tyler attended Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church,
13where she faithfully served as an usher, a Finance Room
14helper, and a deaconess; she also assisted the Sunday school;
15she later attended First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lela Tyler was active in the Union District
18Baptist Association (UDBA), where she was known for her
19distinguished singing voice and for helping out as chaplain
20during devotions; she served as president of the UDBA'S Ushers
21Department for four years; and

1    WHEREAS, Lela Tyler was the wife of Rev. Dr. Clifford
2Tyler for 18 years; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Lela Tyler and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
6friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Lela Tyler as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
