| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Stanley E. "Stan" Gregory of Alexis, |
| 4 | | who passed away on April 13, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory was born in Rock Island to Floyd L. |
| 6 | | and Jean E. (Dahl) Gregory on November 21, 1945; he was raised |
| 7 | | and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School |
| 8 | | in 1963; he attended Western Illinois University; he served |
| 9 | | with the U.S. Army Reserve; he married Brenda Arp at the Zion |
| 10 | | Lutheran Church in North Henderson on June 18, 1966; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory farmed his entire life on the family |
| 12 | | farm west of Alexis; he also owned and operated Gregory Real |
| 13 | | Estate and Auction in Alexis for over 40 years; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory was a lifelong member of the Norwood |
| 15 | | Presbyterian Church, where he served as both elder and |
| 16 | | trustee; he served on the Norwood Cemetery Board and was a |
| 17 | | member of the Mercer County Fair Board; he was a founding |
| 18 | | member of the Alexis Men's Club, which sponsored the Steve |
| 19 | | McBride Scholarship for Alexis High School graduates; he loved |
| 20 | | his community and was instrumental in several of the Alexis |
| 21 | | centennial events and Alexis progress shows as a member of the |
| 22 | | Alexis Jaycees; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory raised Duroc hogs for many years, |
| 2 | | but his Angus cattle were his pride and joy; in his youth, he |
| 3 | | loved showing his 4-H calves at the local and state fairs as |
| 4 | | well as the International Livestock Show in Chicago; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory loved being a farmer, but most of |
| 6 | | all, he loved his family and spending time with them, |
| 7 | | especially attending his grandchildren's numerous events; he |
| 8 | | was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals; he loved playing |
| 9 | | football, baseball, and later softball and enjoyed traveling |
| 10 | | and spending time with friends; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory was preceded in death by his |
| 12 | | parents; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gregory is survived by his wife, Brenda; his |
| 14 | | children, Kristina (Grant) Eaton, Steve (Dana) Gregory, and |
| 15 | | Jeff (Heather) Gregory; his grandchildren, Jared (Natalie) |
| 16 | | Eaton, Claire Gregory, Anne Gregory, Vada Gregory, Max |
| 17 | | Gregory, and Jack Gregory; his sister, Terry Anderson; and |
| 18 | | numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 21 | | Stanley E. "Stan" Gregory and extend our sincere condolences |
