SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Benjamin Joseph "Ben" Theilen of
4Springfield, who passed away on December 6, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen was born to Larry and Barbara Bee
6Theilen in Springfield on April 8, 1978; he earned his
7bachelor's degree in Education and his master's degree in
8Administrative Education at Eastern Illinois University; he
9then obtained a Superintendent Endorsement; he married Morgan
10M. Park on June 22, 2013; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen began his teaching career as an 8th
12grade math teacher at Pleasant Plains Middle School before
13becoming assistant principal and then principal; at the time
14of his passing, he was currently serving as Superintendent of
15Schools for the Community of Edinburg; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen coached baseball, basketball, and
17softball in the Pleasant Plains Community Unit School District
18#8; his most enjoyable coaching experiences were while
19coaching his son's baseball team and his daughter's basketball
20team; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen was a member of West Side Christian

1Church; he was an avid collector of baseball cards, which
2later turned into a large collection of various items from
3area auctions; he loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and
4also enjoyed Illini basketball and participating in fantasy
5football; on the side, he enjoyed helping his father and uncle
6as a carpenter and tinkering in the garage; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen will be remembered as a wonderful
8educator and friend and, most importantly, he will be
9remembered as a dedicated husband, father, son, and brother;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen was preceded in death by his
12grandparents, Robert and Ann Bee and August and Lena Theilen;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ben Theilen is survived by his wife, Morgan; his
15children, Grayson, Monroe, and Emmerson; his parents; his
16brother, Kristofer (Lori) Theilen; the family dog, Charlie;
17and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Benjamin Joseph "Ben" Theilen and extend our sincere
22condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Ben Theilen as an expression of our
4deepest sympathy.
