2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Sean O'Shea, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | January 3, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was born on September 24, 1976; he | ||||||
6 | graduated from DePaul University and the American University | ||||||
7 | Washington College of Law; he was licensed to practice law in | ||||||
8 | Illinois and the District of Columbia and was admitted to the | ||||||
9 | United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court | ||||||
10 | for the Northern District of Illinois, the Court of Appeals | ||||||
11 | for the District of Columbia, and the Illinois Supreme Court; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was a partner at Alexander, Borovicka & | ||||||
14 | O'Shea Government Solutions and president of SPO Strategic | ||||||
15 | Consulting, LLC.; he had more than 15 years of policy, | ||||||
16 | legislative, and legal experience, working with various | ||||||
17 | federal, state, and local government entities, nonprofits, | ||||||
18 | trade associations, universities, corporations, and unions in | ||||||
19 | the transportation and infrastructure areas, as well as | ||||||
20 | complex insurance, environmental, and national security | ||||||
21 | issues; and | ||||||
22 | WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was a notable name in government and |

1 | lobbying circles in Illinois and Washington, D.C., where he | ||||||
2 | worked for both former President Bill Clinton and, later, | ||||||
3 | former Senator Hillary Clinton; during the Clinton | ||||||
4 | Administration, he worked in the Office of Cabinet Affairs; he | ||||||
5 | was a projects director and a legislative assistant for | ||||||
6 | Senator Clinton; he later worked in Springfield, where he | ||||||
7 | served as deputy chief of staff to Governor Pat Quinn; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea represented clients in the private | ||||||
9 | sector before Congress and executive branch agencies on | ||||||
10 | appropriations issues and regulatory matters and assisted | ||||||
11 | clients in navigating Congressional investigations; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea served as vice president of Building | ||||||
13 | America's Future; in 2015, he was elected to the board of | ||||||
14 | directors of Building America's Future and the Building | ||||||
15 | America's Future Educational Fund; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was the loving husband of Sebastian | ||||||
17 | Contreras Jr.; the devoted son of Mary and the late Michael | ||||||
18 | "Joe" O'Shea; the cherished brother of Michael, Daniel CPD | ||||||
19 | (Michelle), and Colleen; the beloved uncle of Declan and | ||||||
20 | Delaney; and the dear nephew, cousin, and friend to many; | ||||||
21 | therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | Sean O'Shea and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
3 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the family of Sean O'Shea as an expression of our | ||||||
6 | deepest sympathy.
