SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Sean O'Shea, who passed away on
4January 3, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was born on September 24, 1976; he
6graduated from DePaul University and the American University
7Washington College of Law; he was licensed to practice law in
8Illinois and the District of Columbia and was admitted to the
9United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court
10for the Northern District of Illinois, the Court of Appeals
11for the District of Columbia, and the Illinois Supreme Court;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was a partner at Alexander, Borovicka &
14 O'Shea Government Solutions and president of SPO Strategic
15Consulting, LLC.; he had more than 15 years of policy,
16legislative, and legal experience, working with various
17federal, state, and local government entities, nonprofits,
18trade associations, universities, corporations, and unions in
19the transportation and infrastructure areas, as well as
20complex insurance, environmental, and national security
21issues; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was a notable name in government and

1lobbying circles in Illinois and Washington, D.C., where he
2worked for both former President Bill Clinton and, later,
3former Senator Hillary Clinton; during the Clinton
4Administration, he worked in the Office of Cabinet Affairs; he
5was a projects director and a legislative assistant for
6Senator Clinton; he later worked in Springfield, where he
7served as deputy chief of staff to Governor Pat Quinn; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea represented clients in the private
9sector before Congress and executive branch agencies on
10appropriations issues and regulatory matters and assisted
11clients in navigating Congressional investigations; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea served as vice president of Building
13America's Future; in 2015, he was elected to the board of
14directors of Building America's Future and the Building
15America's Future Educational Fund; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sean O'Shea was the loving husband of Sebastian
17Contreras Jr.; the devoted son of Mary and the late Michael
18"Joe" O'Shea; the cherished brother of Michael, Daniel CPD
19(Michelle), and Colleen; the beloved uncle of Declan and
20Delaney; and the dear nephew, cousin, and friend to many;
21therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Sean O'Shea and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
3friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Sean O'Shea as an expression of our
6deepest sympathy.
