2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Roger Duane Foiles, who passed away on |
4 | | February 16, 2023; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Foiles was born to Jacob Cecil and Carrie |
6 | | (Brangenberg) Foiles in Kampsville on April 8, 1941; he |
7 | | graduated from Carrollton Community High School in 1959 and |
8 | | served his country in the U.S. Army; he married Barbara J. |
9 | | Prough at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Carrollton on July 14, |
10 | | 1968; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Roger Foiles operated Foiles Fair Acres in Greene |
12 | | County and then expanded his adventure into retail; he owned |
13 | | and operated Foiles Customs in Carrollton, where he |
14 | | specialized in custom sign work, truck seats, and Amish |
15 | | furniture; he would eventually expand his furniture store into |
16 | | both Springfield and Grafton; he treasured the relationships |
17 | | he had with customers and vendors; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Roger Foiles was a founder of Believers Baptist |
19 | | Church in Carrollton, where he served for many years as a |
20 | | Deacon; he had a kind and generous spirit and was always |
21 | | willing to lend a helping hand; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, In his early years, Roger Foiles enjoyed drag |
2 | | racing in White Hall, Alton, and Wentzville, Missouri; he |
3 | | continued his passion for restoring and collecting antique |
4 | | cars throughout his entire life; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Foiles was preceded in death by his parents |
6 | | and his five brothers, Raymond, Edgar Ralph, Robert, Gerald, |
7 | | and Ronald Foiles; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Roger Foiles is survived by his wife of 55 years, |
9 | | Barbara; his son, Scott (Natasha) Foiles; his two daughters, |
10 | | Carrie (Keith) Schoonover and Janie (John) Brady; his four |
11 | | grandchildren, Jacob, Jordyn, Caleigh, and Allison; and his |
12 | | numerous, beloved pets; therefore, be it
|
13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
|
15 | | Roger Duane Foiles and extend our sincere
condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it |
17 | | further
